43’ 3’’ Canvas at ZAFCO Tires Headquarters
A tire manufacturer, ZAFCO, was eager to have their new architectural office in Dubai fully designed with a cohesive theme. The key to the success of this project was collaborating with the American artist Marc Northstar, bringing his signature touch to every room in this freshly designed building located in Dubai.
As Marc Northstar ventured into this collaboration, his artistic journey took an unconventional turn. Faced with the challenge of creating a unified theme for the artwork that seamlessly complemented the building's design, he employed a distinctive approach. A colossal canvas, spanning 43.3 feet, became the medium for his expression. This vast expanse of artistic exploration was later meticulously divided into smaller, purposefully designed pieces, each tailored to harmonize with specific rooms within the building.
The uniqueness of this collaboration extended beyond the canvas. Marc Northstar informed his client that he would complete the entire project, and if the client did not like it, no payment would be necessary. The client agreed to the deal with a desire to have one theme for all the rooms. Northstar found himself navigating the delicate balance of meeting both his artistic standards and the client's specific vision.
Despite the inherent pressure, Marc Northstar's creative prowess triumphed. The abstract art pieces, strategically placed within the architecture, not only met but surpassed the client’s expectations.
In the grand tapestry of this collaboration, the fusion of Marc Northstar's artistic ingenuity, AK Design's meticulous interior design, and ZAFCO's innovative vision resulted in a collection of abstract art pieces that seamlessly became an integral part of Dubai's new architectural gem. This project stands as a testament to the boundless possibilities when art and architecture engage in a dance of creative exploration.
